At first we had land line phones, which worked by broadcasting the phone call over wires. Then we discovered portable phones that used cellular technology, which includes cellular towers and satellites in order to broadcast the phone call. These phones were called cell phones or mobile phones. Now, we’ve entered an era where even more advancements are being put into place as a matter of routine.

Many people own phones which are mobile but require cell phones towers or satellite service. VOIP phones merely require Internet access. These phones get their name because of the fact that whenever a computer utilizes the Internet, it is given an IP address. The Internet protocol address for the phone is a way to identify the device on the internet, therefore, VOIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol.

In simple terms, VOIP phones connect over the Internet and have their own IP addresses. These types of phones are beneficial because they don’t need a tower and they’re much cheaper than cell phones.

Not only are the plans for VOIP phone service, sometimes called digital phone service, much cheaper than traditional phone service, but when we look at the technology for VOIP phones, we can also understand that the phones themselves cost less money than the phones that are made for mobile usage which requires utilizing a tower or satellite.
